When an MRI, an orthopaedist and physiotherapy haven't solved your back pain.
Every back pain is different – so every treatment starts by diagnosing the source, not just the spot that hurts
"Your back shouldn't decide what you do today"
Lower back pain is one of the most common reasons people come to the clinic: chronic pain that has lasted for months, a back that suddenly "locks", or pain that gets worse with long sitting. Acupuncture releases stiff muscles and improves blood flow to the area – so the body can start to heal.
"An image isn't the whole story"
Many 50-year-olds would show a bulging or herniated disc on a scan – and many of them have no pain at all. In other words, what the scan shows doesn't always explain the pain. Chinese medicine treats the whole body: blood flow, the surrounding muscles and what keeps the nerve irritated.
Many patients come after they've already been offered surgery, looking for a natural way to try first. The medical decision itself is always made with your doctor.
"Turn your head without thinking about it"
Stress, screen work and poor sleep build up in the neck and shoulders, sometimes with headaches too. A combination of acupuncture, cupping and Tui-Na releases tight muscles and restores range of motion.
How Yotam finds, by touch, what is affecting the lower back.
I'm a licensed practitioner of Chinese and Japanese medicine, and for years back pain, neck pain and herniated discs have been a large part of my clinical work. I combine Chinese acupuncture, Japanese acupuncture in the Kiiko Matsumoto style, cupping and Tui-Na – according to what each patient's body needs.
What sets my approach apart is the diagnosis: by palpating the abdomen and points on the body, I look for where blood flow isn't working smoothly – and focus the treatment there. My goal isn't only to ease the pain, but to help you move, function and feel good in everyday life again.

Chinese and Japanese diagnosis – pulse, tongue and palpation – then acupuncture, cupping or Tui-Na as needed. A session lasts about an hour.
A minimum of five sessions is recommended, then we review the change in pain and movement together and decide what's next.
★★★★★Yotam is simply amazing. Calm and serene, endless professionalism and incredible knowledge. I came to him after a long period of back pain from sitting too much and, like a magician, he released all the pain and stiffness. Warmly recommended – you'll leave with a healthier body and peace of mind.
★★★★★I can't recommend Yotam enough! His approach to helping me with my back pain has been professional and personal; easing discomfort and pain and giving a lot of good advice on how to avoid the pain to begin with.
★★★★★Simply amazing. I contacted Yotam after an injury just before my wedding, very sceptical about Chinese medicine. Yotam was super available and came to me the same day I reached out. I got acupuncture and lots of tips and aids for recovery, and after every session I could feel a change. Highly recommended!
Why an MRI doesn't tell the whole story, and how acupuncture treats back pain.
Yes. Back pain is one of the most common reasons for Chinese medicine treatment. Acupuncture releases tight muscles, improves blood flow to the area and reduces inflammation – and combined with cupping and Tui-Na, the body gets moving again.
Yes. Many patients come with a herniated or bulging disc or sciatica. Treatment addresses the pain, the surrounding muscles and blood flow. Important: it complements medical follow-up, it doesn't replace it.
Many patients come at exactly this stage, to try a natural approach before deciding on surgery. The medical decision is made with your doctor; Yotam will be happy to check with you whether treatment is suitable.
It depends on the pain and how long you've had it. A minimum of five sessions is recommended, then you review progress together. Many people feel a change after the first few sessions.
A short, free WhatsApp or phone chat in which Yotam hears what hurts, since when and what you've tried – and tells you whether and how treatment can help. No commitment.
It shouldn't. The needles are as fine as a hair, and even finer in the Japanese style – from nothing at all to a tiny pinch.
If back pain comes with weakness in the legs, loss of bladder or bowel control, high fever or after a serious injury – seek urgent medical care immediately.
